Infants
Ages 6 weeks-2 years old

Our individualized infant care allows parents flexibility with their little one in how we schedule their naps, feedings, and wake times. We work as a tight knit team with parents to help their infant reach their development milestones and build healthy eating and sleeping habits. We follow what parents would like for their infant, advising for best support. This looks like supporting breastfeeding by coordinating with parents surrounding this. We also offer formula options to parents interested in having their child fed formula while in our care. We work with families to help maximize their child's night time sleep with consistent timed naps during the day. To maximize infants' comfort and consistency, we are willing to support families who are interested in using reusable diapers. When it comes time to transition to solids, we create plans with parents on how, when and what we are introducing to baby. It is crucial to us here at Head and Heart Childcare that you feel confident with the care being provided to your infant.

We are limited to 4 infants in care at a time, allowing our care to be very individualized.

Toddlers
2 years old - 3 years

Our toddler group is a fun spectrum of development, ranging from little ones still learning to run and jump, to  stringing sentences together and learning how to sing. Though they are not ready for the coordination and attention that preschool requires, our toddlers still have a learning time where they are encouraged to engage with educational tools and flashcards designed specifically for this age group. Throughout the day, staff will use repetitive language and sign to help build their communication skills. Our staff take special care to document any development happening in this age group and to talk with parents about supporting their little one through each milestone. Napping, eating, toileting, movement and play all experience huge growth throughout this period in a child's life, and we are excited and ready to support each child through it all!

Preschoolers
3 years old - 5 years old

Our preschoolers enjoy designated learning and activity time each day.  We follow Busy Hands And Minds preschool curriculum from September through May, doing review pages and activities from different months throughout the summer. We supplement our learning time with circle time, which includes movement, regulatory activities, a story, singing and dancing. During the warmer months, we are outside for four to five hours every day, and during the cooler months, we will be outside for one to two hours daily. We plan lots of activities during these times to continue education and learning and incorporate it with play. Children use their free play throughout the day to build friendships and work on their communication skills. There are endless opportunities to guide children in emotional regulation as we navigate things like delayed gratification through taking turns and disappointment when things don't go our way.

Early Intervention

At Head and Heart Preschool and Childcare, we prioritize recognizing and discussing any possible developmental delays. We start by documenting developmental lapses based on age. If we don't see improvement in this area within a month or two, we will have a conversation with parents to see if things are the same at care as they are at home. Our team is well equipped with tools to help support many different developmental delays and we are happy to work with parents to support them in practicing these things with their children at home. Regardless, we encourage parents to seek the input of their child's PCP and to reach out to Early Intervention specialists through the county. Our providers and staff are very familiar with working with these agencies and welcome and accept any support they offer to the children in our care. We are eager to learn and grow with your child and find what works best for both you and your family!
